The highly-awaited Season 2 of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel launches on the streaming platform soon, and audience theories has been widespread.
The first season presents a large cast of personalities residing in Hell and Heaven, sets them at odds with songs detailing their conflicts, and builds tense rivalries and angsty, affectionate connections that drive fan obsession.
The fandom's stated hopes for the new season differ greatly, but certain threads recur frequently: Could a fan-favorite character break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the mysterious "deal" affecting the enigmatic Alastor? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Naturally, I don't make the show with fan service as the main goal," the creator commented earlier this year. "However I feel like me being a devotee of the series means there's a lot of it just inherently. I also want to see these things, and I want some of these things to happen, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator says her big-picture plan is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by the production companies, which produce the series.
That might mean fans have to be patient for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how fast season 2 moves, and how many of what they're anticipating happens now.
"I believe people are going to get a lot out of it," she adds. "There are several debut moments. I think we receive some incredible reveals, some really cool origin tales, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience additional musical numbers from the previously silent cast members."
The creator is well-informed of the guesses and hopes about the upcoming season — particularly in the form of fan bingo cards.
"I've seen a few fans create a prediction grid about season 2," she mentions. "Obviously I can't post it, but I've already completed some of them, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 premieres on the streaming service on Oct. 29.
